Tony Violi
My name is Tony Violi, and I am running for the City of Mishawka 5th District Common Council seat. With current Councilman Mike Compton’s support, I feel that this is the right time for me to step forward and serve my city. I have lived in the 5th District my entire life, raised by my Italian immigrant parents Dominc & Maria Violi. I grew up in a house on Oak & Lawrence Street and have always called Mishawaka my home.
I attended St. Monica Grade School, John Young Junior High School my freshman year, and graduated from Mishawaka High School in 1981. I attended IUSB and graduated with a Business Degree, majoring in Accounting and Business Administration. I have been working as an accountant with Jeff Deitchley CPA since 1985. Our office is located on Race Street, near the thriving downtown area.
I was a volunteer grade school football coach at Mishawaka Catholic for 36 years, where I had the privilege of coaching hundreds of young men. I have been the Athletic Director at Mishawaka Catholic Grade School for 13 years. I have been involved in the Inter City Catholic League since 1988 and am just ending my 26th year as President of the league. This has been a fulfilling experience assisting our youth with athletics and helping them with their growth as young men and women. I am currently a member of the Mishawaka Park Board and serve as President of the Mishawaka Bond Bank. I am proud of the parks in Mishawaka, and all the projects that the Bond Bank has helped the city with.
I feel it is time for me to take the next step in the life of public service by announcing my candidacy for the 5th District Common Council seat left open by Mike. I truly love the city of Mishawaka and want to do my part in helping it continue its phenomenal growth. My goal would be to make sure all the neighborhoods in the city grow and get stronger. If I am elected to the Council, I promise that I will work as hard as possible to make all of Mishawaka better than the day before. I truly want everyone to realize what I already know; Mishawaka is “The Best Hometown in America”.
